First Blog

As part of the educational leadership course I am taking, I need to create a blog.  I decided that I would blog about my return to graduate school after 20 years of working in education.

I entered graduate school in 1990 and graduated with an Ed.S. degree in 1993.  My return to higher education began again in 2013.  So much has changed in those 20 years.  There were several hurdles to overcome in an attempt to just get into the school.  These included needing to locate immunizations, which I did not have.  I then went for blood work which showed no immunity.  I then needed to get the MMR shot again.

Once that hurdle was overcome, I was able to begin.  I needed to set up new id numbers and email accounts with the university.  I needed to learn an online system to registration.   After getting registered, getting all holds removed from my account and paying my fees I was ready to begin class.   Then there was sticker shock over the cost of books.  In looking at my bookshelf I found books from my graduate education.  The cost was between $50 and $60 and I still have the books.  Books for my courses 20 years later are about $180 or you can rent them for $80.

I am going to use this blog to highlight some of the leadership practices that I learn in each module.
